Transport Manager
Thame
£40,000-£50,000 PA
37.5 hours per week - Monday to Friday

Pertemps are recruiting for an experienced Transport Manager for a British based industrial gas company who operate across the globe. The purpose of this position is to manage a team of 20-30 drivers, ensuring that key service indicators and cost targets are achieved.

Transport Manager Responsibilities
  1. Manage team of drivers
  2. Ensure compliance within strict company safety standards
  3. Manage transport costs whilst developing improvement programmes
  4. Maintain the delivery of bulk industrial gases keeping within agreed service levels
  5. Manage cost budgets and take corrective actions where necessary, including fuel efficiency monitoring
  6. Weekly reporting to regional manager
  7. Liaising with various internal departments as part of the operational nature of the role
  8. Arranging fleet maintenance
  9. Manage all aspects of legal compliance to meet requirements of operator's licence
  10. Manage people processes including but not limited to; recruitment, training, disciplinary & grievances
  11. Undertake driver reviews, establish any development needs and implement training plans
  12. Complete daily de-brief with drivers
  13. Maintain records for SHEQ purposes
The successful Transport Manager will be required to have the following experience, skills & qualifications
  1. Transport Management experience
  2. Workplace SHEQ management experience
  3. Effective communication experience, both internal and external
  4. Excellent people management skills
  5. CPC qualification
  6. ADR licence (current, lapsed, or excellent knowledge with willingness to obtain certification)
  7. NEBOSH - Desirable
  8. Excellent knowledge and previous experience of distribution/transport operations
