Qualifications

• Previous experience as Transport Manager or similar leadership role in a fast-paced logistics/3PL.
• CPC qualification is essential.
• Strong knowledge of transport legislation, fleet compliance and driver hours.

Responsibilities

• Lead the transport operation for a 38-class-1 fleet in a busy 3PL environment.
• Ensure compliance with operator licences, DVSA rules, hours and directives.
• Coach and support drivers to maintain safety, service and performance.
• Oversee vehicle compliance, maintenance planning and incident management.
• Monitor KPIs, analyse data and report trends and risks.
• Investigate incidents and implement corrective actions.
• Collaborate with internal teams and customers to hit service targets.

Summary

We are recruiting for a Transport Manager to lead a busy 3PL transport operation, managing a fleet of 38 Class 1 vehicles in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment. This is a hands‑on leadership role responsible for delivering a safe, compliant and efficient transport function, while driving service performance, cost control and continuous improvement. The successful candidate will hold a CPC, be highly confident using transport systems and data, and be able to turn operational insight into effective decision‑making.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the transport operation for a fleet of 40 Class 1 vehicles within a fast-paced 3PL environment.
• Ensure full compliance with operator licence obligations, DVSA requirements, driver hours, Working Time Directive and company policies.
• Lead, coach and support drivers and transport colleagues to maintain high standards of safety, service and performance.
• Oversee vehicle compliance, maintenance planning, defect reporting, incident management and fleet security.
• Monitor transport KPIs, analyse operational data and produce clear reports to identify trends, risks and improvement opportunities.
• Investigate accidents, incidents and infringements, implementing corrective actions to reduce repeat issues.
• Work closely with internal stakeholders and customers to ensure service levels are achieved in line with operational and commercial targets.

Experience

• Previous experience in a Transport Manager or similar leadership role within a fast-paced logistics, distribution or 3PL operation.
• A valid CPC qualification is essential.
• Strong knowledge of transport legislation, fleet compliance, driver hours and operational best practice.
• Confident user of transport management systems, compliance platforms and Microsoft Office, with the ability to interpret and present data effectively.
• Strong analytical skills, with the ability to use data to improve service, cost and operational performance.
• Excellent communication and people management skills, with the ability to build strong relationships across the operation.
