Transport Manager Position

Bennett & Game Recruitment are currently recruiting for a Transport Manager. The successful candidate will oversee and direct all transport-related processes and staff. Key responsibilities include:

1. Managing a fleet of vehicles for optimal utilization and reduced downtime.
2. Ensuring vehicles are properly maintained, safe, and compliant with legal requirements, including arranging repairs and routine maintenance.
3. Planning, scheduling, and optimizing multi-drop delivery routes considering restrictions like delivery windows and instructions.
4. Organizing and supervising the loading of delivery vehicles and driver departures.
5. Ensuring timely, cost-effective delivery of customer orders meeting quality standards.
6. Assessing and organizing resources including staff, vehicles, and equipment.
7. Monitoring costs and implementing strategies to reduce expenses.
8. Reviewing and implementing company policies, ensuring adherence to regulations.
9. Monitoring and reporting key transport metrics.
10. Motivating drivers and ensuring proper training and qualifications.
11. Establishing and enforcing driver performance standards per the Delivery Drivers' Handbook.
12. Maintaining accurate records and ensuring drivers complete paperwork properly and timely.
13. Coordinating with other departments for efficient resource utilization.
14. Performing deliveries as needed.
15. Monitoring stock levels and ensuring safety practices, including chemical handling and compliance with Health and Safety at Work Act 1990.
16. Working within the company's Quality Manual guidelines.
17. Possessing in-depth knowledge of transport management, driving, and safety regulations.
18. Reporting on transportation metrics and resolving staff or equipment issues decisively.
19. Utilizing IT skills and various technologies effectively.
20. Demonstrating attention to detail, clear communication, and the ability to work under pressure and multitask.
21. Exhibiting leadership skills to motivate teams and meet targets.

Salary: £35,000 - £40,000 DOE. Full benefits to be discussed.
