Transport Manager

Our client is a well-established and growing importer and distributor of authentic Italian food products, supplying restaurants, delis, wholesalers and retailers across the UK.
Due to their success and continued expansion, they are seeking an experienced and compliance-driven Transport Manager to oversee and manage the multi-drop delivery fleet of vans in both London and Manchester.

Your Time at Work
The Transport Manager is responsible for ensuring the safe, legal and efficient operation of our clients UK's transport activities across London and Manchester sites.
The role includes managing the company fleet, supporting drivers, ensuring full compliance with Operator Licence and DVSA requirements, coordinating third-party logistics providers, maintaining health & safety standards, and continuously improving operational processes, working Monday to Saturday.
The Transport Manager will work closely with the Warehouse, Operations, Purchasing, Customer Service and Finance teams to deliver an efficient, compliant and customer-focused transport operation.
Transport Operations
- Plan and oversee the daily transport operation.
- Ensure all deliveries and collections are completed safely, efficiently and on time.
- Support drivers throughout their routes and resolve operational issues.
- Maximise fleet utilisation and operational efficiency.
- Monitor transport KPIs and identify improvement opportunities.
- Liaise with warehouse, customer service and sales teams regarding delivery requirements.
Fleet Management (3.5T Vans)
- Conduct or oversee daily fleet inspections.
- Monitor vehicle condition and roadworthiness.
- Report defects to our Suppliers, manufacturers or repair providers and ensure timely resolution.
- Coordinate servicing, MOTs, inspections and repairs.
- Arrange regular vehicle washing and cleaning.
- Coordinate replacement vehicles when required.
- Manage fleet insurance updates and vehicle changes.
- Ensure Congestion Charge, ULEZ and other vehicle registrations remain up to date.
- Monitor vehicle documentation and compliance records.
- Order fleet consumables
- Implement fleet management applications and digital systems to improve efficiency.
Our Perfect Worker
Essential
- Transport Manager CPC (Standard National or International) held.
- Previous experience managing transport operations.
- Excellent understanding of UK transport legislation.
- Strong organisational skills.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Ability to work under pressure and prioritise effectively.
- High attention to detail.
Desirable
- Experience within food distribution.
- Refrigerated fleet experience.
- Experience with transport management systems.
- Knowledge of Operator Licence compliance.
- Experience managing third-party logistics providers.
