What's the opportunity?

We're on the lookout for a Transport Manager to join our team in Doncaster. This is a key role within our logistics network, where the successful candidate will lead the transport team, ensuring our customers receive a 5-star service throughout the delivery process.

What does the role involve?
  • Manage systems and processes for effectively unloading and receiving goods into the warehouse in line with company policy, ensuring stock is in perfect condition for customer orders.
  • Reduce the risk of vehicle overloading.
  • Ensure vehicles are properly maintained, including carrying out inspections and arranging repairs and routine maintenance.
  • Ensure all drivers and operators have the correct, up-to-date qualifications.
  • Maintain and complete accurate records.
  • Supervise the removal of packaging from received goods and the appropriate disposal of waste materials to ensure a clean, safe, and tidy working environment.
  • Manage and assist team members in the moving, handling, and storage of goods within the warehouse, in line with established policies, to ensure the good condition of customer goods and optimal use of warehouse space.
  • Manage training in the moving, handling, and loading of goods.
  • Operate and maintain systems for the security of the premises, personnel, and stock, including securing and alarming premises and undertaking morning security procedures.
  • Provide leadership to the team, including training, development, and motivation to optimize performance.
  • Manage systems to ensure the cost-effective use of delivery vehicles and staff, ensuring timely delivery and optimal performance.
  • Ensure all legal checks and documentation for delivery vehicles are completed and maintained.
  • Monitor and control stock levels, conducting stock takes in line with policies and procedures.
  • Manage health and safety systems within the warehouse to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Provide management reports on distribution activity and delivery performance.
  • Handle customer inquiries and complaints to maintain high customer satisfaction.
