About the role…

The good news is that our continued success and business growth has opened up an exciting opportunity for an experienced, driven, and enthusiastic Health and Safety Manager to join our successful team at our Screwfix contract in Stafford, with occasional travel to sister sites. This is a critical role to manage health and safety within the Transport department.

Shift pattern: 08:00 - 16:00 Monday-Friday (contract any 5 from 7)

What you will contribute…

  • Manage the health and safety function for Transport, including supervising staff to ensure objectives are met.
  • Ensure a safe working environment for employees and visitors, complying with legal requirements and company policies.
  • Lead and support health and safety projects at site and group initiatives.
  • Provide authoritative advice and guidance on health & safety matters to stakeholders.
  • Review and audit health & safety arrangements, implementing improvements where needed.
  • Develop strategies to reduce risks, including equipment, practices, and processes.
  • Implement reporting regimes for H&S statistics and provide management information.
  • Drive behavioural culture change across a large, multi-shift operation.
  • Ensure risk assessments are up-to-date and training complies with legislation and best practices.
  • Equip site management to investigate accidents and incidents and implement proactive changes.

What you will bring…

  • NEBOSH certificate level qualification or equivalent, with relevant H&S management experience, preferably in retail or supply chain warehouse environments.
  • Strong team building, leadership, and motivational skills.
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills, with the ability to engage at all levels.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of UK H&S legislation.
  • Ability to influence change and drive significant improvements.
