Job summary

First Call Contract Services Limited is seeking an experienced Transport Team Leader in Enfield to oversee daily dispatch operations, lead a team of drivers, and coordinate live deliveries in a fast-paced transport environment.

You will drive efficiency by managing route planning, driver allocation and real-time decisions, ensuring safety and compliance with regulations while maintaining high service levels.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Lead, motivate and manage a team of drivers and transport colleagues, creating a positive culture of accountability and high performance.
• Take ownership of the daily transport dispatch operation, ensuring vehicles and crews are dispatched efficiently and on time.
• Monitor live routes and deliveries, responding quickly to delays, breakdowns, failed deliveries, traffic issues and other operational challenges.
• Manage driver allocation, route changes and resource planning throughout the day to maximise fleet utilisation.
• Act as the key point of contact for drivers during the delivery operation, providing support and making timely decisions to keep the operation moving.
• Ensure transport plans are delivered safely, efficiently and in line with customer service expectations.
• Manage and resolve operational issues, escalating where appropriate and keeping relevant teams informed.
• Monitor transport performance, identifying trends and opportunities to improve efficiency, service levels and productivity.
• Ensure compliance with Road Transport Regulations, Health & Safety requirements and Operator Licence (‘O’ Licence) obligations.
• Support the recruitment, induction, training, coaching and development of transport colleagues.
• Manage performance and attendance, addressing issues fairly and consistently.
• Ensure drivers and crews maintain the required standards of customer service, vehicle safety and delivery performance.
• Work closely with warehouse, customer service and management teams to ensure smooth end-to-end delivery operations.
• Support cost control and effective use of vehicles, labour and other transport resources.
• Drive continuous improvement across the dispatch and transport operation.

Are you an experienced Transport Team Leader with a strong background in transport dispatching?

Do you have experience managing drivers, coordinating live deliveries and making quick decisions when things don’t go to plan?

We are looking for an experienced Transport Team Leader to join our busy operation in Enfield. This is a hands-on role for someone who understands the demands of a fast-paced transport environment and has a proven background in transport dispatching, route management and driver coordination.

You will be responsible for leading the transport team, overseeing daily dispatch operations, monitoring live routes and ensuring deliveries are completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard.

The Ideal Candidate

Transport dispatch experience is essential. We are looking for someone who has worked in a busy transport environment and understands the pressures of managing a live delivery operation.

You will ideally have:

• Proven experience in transport dispatching, transport coordination or transport operations.

• Previous experience leading or supervising a team within a transport or logistics environment.

• Strong knowledge of route planning, vehicle allocation and live delivery management.

• Experience managing drivers and dealing with day-to-day operational issues.

• Good knowledge of Road Transport Regulations and Operator Licence requirements.

• Experience monitoring transport KPIs and improving operational performance.

• Strong leadership, communication and people-management skills.

• The ability to remain calm under pressure and make quick, effective decisions.

• A proactive, solutions-focused approach to resolving transport and delivery issues.

• Strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise in a fast-paced environment.

• Good IT skills and confidence using transport, dispatch or route-planning systems.

• A full UK driving licence.
