Job summary

Job Details

Location: Winchester Workshops

Salary: PO1 - £44,893.00 - £47,920.00 per annum (including a £4,000 enhancement allowance)

Contract: Permanent

Closing date: Sunday 15th June 2025 at 23:59 hours

About the Role

Manage the vehicle workshop to ensure it provides an efficient and cost-effective service.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Plan and implement weekly schedules for vehicles and plant, including informing users of workshop bookings.
  2. Supervise and motivate workshop staff, monitor productivity, and check timesheets. Ensure wellbeing opportunities are available when needed.
  3. Use the Fleet Management system and Fleet IT Systems to promote efficient working, including closing job cards and ensuring data accuracy.
  4. Lead by example in adherence to Force Policy on Health and Safety, comply with legislation and standards of good practice, and ensure Transport Department risk assessments are followed.
  5. Provide technical assistance to workshop technicians, liaise with the Technical Coordinator and Fleet Manager, and gain qualifications to manage servicing, maintenance, and repair of alternative fuel vehicles.
  6. Carry out vehicle road tests as necessary.

Essential Qualifications

Educated to QCF Level 4 or higher, with City and Guilds 383 in motor vehicle mechanics with credits or merits, or NVQ Level 3 in vehicle repair and servicing.

Significant recent experience managing a vehicle workshop.
