Job summary

A leading public service organization in Fareham is seeking a Store Assistant to provide effective transport service for the Constabulary. The successful candidate will manage stock, assist with deliveries, and handle clerical tasks, requiring QCF Level 2 education and experience in stock control.

Qualifications

  • Educated to QCF Level 2 with 4 passes including English and Maths.

Location: Fareham Workshops

Salary: Scale 4, £26,106 - £28,653 per annum

Contract: Permanent

Hours: 37 hours per week

Closing Date: Sunday 18th May 2025 at 23:59 hours

Job Purpose

To assist in providing an effective Transport stores service on behalf of the Constabulary.

Key accountabilities include but are not limited to:
  1. Assist in maintaining the Transport stores, including receiving, unloading goods, checking, and stock management.
  2. Raise orders to suppliers on the TRANMAN fleet management system.
  3. Assist with the delivery and collection of motor parts, equipment, and vehicles as required.
  4. Deal with telephone queries and personal callers to the Stores.
  5. Undertake clerical tasks such as record maintenance, filing, and photocopying.
  6. Ensure the Stores section is kept clean and tidy.

Educated to QCF Level 2 (4 passes including English and Maths) OR work experience deemed to have brought the post holder to a comparable level.

Must have an understanding of motor vehicle layout and parts, including engines, braking systems, electrical systems, suspension, and transmission.

Experience in stock control, checking/receiving goods, and maintaining accurate records.

Proficiency in computer systems for ordering, inventory management, and communication (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook).
