Job summary

Heriot-Watt University seeks a TransiT Programme Manager to lead a large-scale, multi-institutional transport decarbonisation research hub. You will oversee a core Management Team, coordinate with directors, and manage a diverse team of academics, researchers and staff.

The role is based on campus, with regular inter-university collaboration and liaison with the funder. Leading strategic programme activities, you will ensure delivery against funder objectives, manage resources across eight

Qualifications

• Essential: Post-graduate degree level education.
• Essential: Professional qualification and demonstrable experience in project management.
• Essential: Experience of managing multi-disciplinary professional teams.
• Essential: Demonstrable experience of managing resources, workloads and changing priorities for self and others.
• Essential: Ability to research, analyse and present complex information and data effectively with good attention to detail.
• Essential: Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills, including ability to communicate complex ideas succinctly to non-specialists.

Responsibilities

• Report progress to funder, stakeholders and Advisory Board.
• Coordinate weekly Management Meetings with Co-Directors and implement actions.
• Maintain relationships with key stakeholders (DfT, EPSRC).
• Chair quarterly Advisory Board and subsidiary boards.
• Produce six-monthly progress reports and respond to funder information requests.
• Strategic programme management to meet funder objectives.
• Maintain risk management systems for delivery.
• Manage support team priorities and professional development.
• Mentor team members and foster collaboration across institutions.
• Ensure effective cross-institution working and federated programme governance.
