Transport Coordinator

We’re looking for

a talented Transport Coordinator to join us on a permanent basis at our site in Scunthorpe.

Pay, benefits and more:

We’re looking to offer a salary of up to £28,000 per annum. In addition, we offer 25 days holiday (plus bank holidays), as well as the option to buy additional days. You’ll have access to a variety of high street discounts, cycle to work scheme, a workplace pension and many other perks.

What you’ll do on a typical day:

1. Be the primary contact point for customers and haulier partners.
2. Ensure that safety, service and savings targets are adhered to.
3. Work with a team ethos to ensure an excellent and valued service is provided to all customers.
4. Proactively prevent accidents and reduce hazards by ensuring that Company Policy, Health & Safety Standards and standards of housekeeping are always followed.
5. Create cost-effective haulage plans in line with the customer’s expectations and Service Level Agreements.
6. Have the ability to react and positively adapt to the demands of the customers in a dynamic live environment.
7. Maintain consistency in communication with respect to planning changes and service delivery with both customers and supplier hauliers.
8. Possess commercial awareness in line with baseline protocols ensuring ad hoc deliveries are agreed effectively and recorded.
9. Work with the Finance Team to resolve customer and haulier issues.
10. Be a team player with a flexible approach to working hours, showing commitment as necessary to satisfying fluctuating business demands.
11. Ensure effective and efficient use of the transport planning systems adopting best practice and general housekeeping.

What you need to succeed at XPO:

1. An understanding of transport planning and industry standards.
2. Excellent communication skills – you’ll be speaking regularly with various stakeholders.
3. Good understanding of Microsoft packages including Excel and Outlook.
4. The ability to work to deadlines efficiently and effectively.
5. Experience of working in a cost-sensitive environment.
6. Experience of transport planning in a 3PL environment is desirable.
7. Good working knowledge of UK Geography.
8. Experience in using transport planning software.
