Overview

A vacancy has arisen within the Transport department for a Transport Coordinator, working alongside the existing members of the Transport team in Barnsley. You will join us on a full-time, permanent basis, and in return, you will receive a competitive salary.

As the UK market leading Kitchen, Bedroom and Bathroom fitted furniture manufacturer, our client has had sustained growth over the last 50 years, with an emphasis on providing a high standard of products and service. They are currently seeking the very best people to further strengthen their position within the industry by appointing dedicated individuals to share in their success.

Responsibilities
  • Plan driver and vehicle resources to achieve delivery/collection times, optimising resources and adhering to working time directive (WTD) and drivers' hours legislation.
  • Create and update daily run summaries to achieve delivery and collection deadlines.
  • Ensure service levels are achieved and maintained, in conjunction with other departments.
  • Use the Driver rota to plan runs according to shift pattern and available hours, considering holidays and sickness.
  • Maintain legal compliance regarding defects, services, MOTs, etc.
  • Maintain clear and effective communication with drivers, including start times, load information, directions, and additional shifts.
  • Ensure adherence to all statutory and legal requirements, health and safety policies, and safe systems of work.
  • Assist the rest of the team in other functions within the office.
Qualifications / Requirements
  • Planning and organizing skills, with the ability to work efficiently and accurately to meet deadlines under pressure.
  • Experience of planning vehicles nationwide would be an advantage.
  • Knowledge of Road Transport Directive and current drivers' hours.
  • A background in transport operations.
  • Computer literate, with a good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Outlook.
  • Able to manage your own work time to achieve timed daily duties.
  • Able to work within a small team.
  • Able to pass instructions on directly to the drivers.
