Location: Darlington, DL1 4XT
Pay Rate: £13.70 per hour
Working hours: 40 hours per week - 30-minute unpaid break per day

We are currently recruiting for a reliable and organised Transport Co-Ordinator to join a busy team on a temp-to-perm basis with an immediate start. Our client is a well-established third-party provider of transportation and logistics services, offering Drayage, Global Freight Forwarding and Full Truckload Transport solutions.

Working Hours:
  • Standard: 12:00 - 20:00
  • Training period: Rotating shifts 06:00 - 14:00 / 12:00 - 20:00 / 20:00 - 06:00
  • Occasional cover: 20:00 - 06:00 (for annual leave/absence cover)
Key Responsibilities:
  • Allocate and monitor driver schedules.
  • Conduct pre-briefs at the start of shifts and debriefs at the end.
  • Manage transport issues throughout the day, ensuring customers are kept fully informed.
  • Complete and maintain accurate driver reports and paperwork.
  • Organise annual leave cover using agency/subcontractors.
  • Optimise vehicle efficiency and plan backhaul loads where possible.
  • Report vehicle defects to the maintenance provider promptly to minimise downtime.
  • Work closely with Team Leaders and Managers to learn and apply driver compliance (working time directive and driving hours).
Requirements:
  • Willingness to learn on the job, supported by training alongside current Team Leaders.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision once trained.
  • Background in transport, logistics, or planning is highly desirable.
  • Strong organisational and communication skills.
  • Ability to remain calm and proactive in a busy, fast-paced environment.
