Position: Transport Assistant

Location: Stanley House, Anthonys Way, Medway City Estate, Rochester, Kent, ME2 4NF

Line Reporting Manager: Combi Divisional Manager

Hours: Monday - Friday, Alternate weeks 06:00am-16:00pm & 08:00am-18:00pm (hours unpaid lunch)

Salary: £12.60ph / £29,484 Annually

Principle Duties And Accountabilities
  • Liaise with and assist generally other sections in the Company in the delivery of operational and administrative services to internal and external customers
  • Support Senior Transport Teams
Roles And Responsibilities
Logistics & Planning
  • Assist line manager in the delivery of planned and reactive services to industrial, commercial and domestic customers in accordance with established procedures.
  • Assist line manager to monitor and analyse data to identify trends, challenges, and opportunities for operational improvement.
  • Be aware of and monitor daily vehicle revenue.
  • Manage planning of works in the absence of the line manager.
Customer Service
  • Receive service requests verbally or electronically, provide advice and prices to customers, and coordinate relevant resources to meet timescales and optimize performance.
  • Address and resolve complaints and issues promptly and professionally.
  • Liaise with other departments to deliver operational and administrative services to customers.
Data Processing & Administration
  • Manage in-house systems and databases (Weighsoft, CTrack, Ortec, AAIR).
  • Maintain office files and documentation.
  • Ensure all jobs are documented correctly.
  • Manage drivers' timesheets/hours in the absence of the manager.
Health & Safety

Employees must take reasonable care for their own health and safety and that of others, cooperate with statutory requirements, and adhere to the company's health and safety policies.

  • Understand and comply with the company health and safety policy.
  • Promote a positive health and safety culture.
  • Ensure activities are carried out safely and in compliance with legislation.
  • Maintain cleanliness of work and welfare areas.
  • Complete all required documentation fully.
  • Report incidents within 2 hours.
  • Be aware of fire, first aid, and emergency procedures.
Qualifications / Competency
  • Experience with fleet resources preferred.
  • Experience in transport, waste, or logistics industry desirable.
  • Ability to manage own workload responsibly.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel).
  • Good communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Organizational and planning skills.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Reliable, responsible, numerate, and commercially aware.
  • Receptive to training and new working methods.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
