Job description

Are you organized, detail-oriented, and thrive in a fast-paced environment? We are seeking a Transport Controller (Front Desk) to provide crucial administrative support to our transportation department. You will be at the heart of scheduling, communication, and compliance, ensuring seamless operations and excellent customer service.

Hours: 06:00 - 14:30, Monday to Friday

Key Responsibilities

Scheduling and Coordination:

  • Assist in developing and managing transport schedules.
  • Coordinate with drivers and logistics teams for timely deliveries.
  • Adapt schedules to accommodate changes or unforeseen challenges.
Documentation And Record Keeping:
  • Maintain accurate records of transport activities, including logs, maintenance, and driver hours.
  • Ensure proper documentation for shipments, including bills of lading and customs paperwork.
  • Update and manage transport management software and databases.
Communication:
  • Act as a central point of contact for drivers, customers, and internal teams.
  • Communicate delivery updates, schedules, and any delays.
  • Liaise with other departments to resolve logistics issues effectively.
Compliance And Safety:
  • Ensure all transport activities comply with legal and company standards.
  • Maintain vehicle maintenance and driver compliance records.
  • Assist with safety audits and implement corrective actions.
Customer Service:
  • Address transport-related customer inquiries professionally and promptly.
  • Resolve complaints and ensure high levels of customer satisfaction.
  • Ensure proof-of-delivery (POD) management aligns with customer KPIs.
Administrative Support:
  • Handle purchase orders and invoices.
  • Provide administrative support to the transport team.
Essential Skills & Experience:
  • Minimum of 2 years in an administrative role, preferably in transportation or logistics.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and transport systems.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Proven experience in modern transport practices and methods.
Qualifications:
  • GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths.
  • High level of honesty and integrity.
