Position Summary

Green Mountain Power is seeking an organized individual with project management experience to join our dynamic Engineering Team as a Transmission Project Planner. This role is a unique opportunity to help shape and execute projects that support reliability, resilience, and innovation in our transmission system.

You will lead the planning, coordination, and execution of transmission line projects-large and small-ensuring they are timely, cost-effective, and aligned with GMP's commitment to our customers. This is a highly collaborative role that bridges engineering, procurement, field operations, safety, environmental and customer engagement.

In this role, you will:

  • Work with the engineering team to develop and execute an asset management plan for our transmission system.
  • Design and estimate both large and small transmission line projects either as a standalone project or in support of GMP planned capital work, such as a substation project.
  • Coordinate with districts and the procurement team to develop a bill of material for upcoming transmission line projects and ensure GMP is maintaining appropriate stock levels, company-wide.
  • Manage or support engineering consultants in order to finalize transmission line designs.
  • Work with engineering to develop and modify transmission line construction standards as needed.
  • Serve as a field liaison between engineering department, customers and internal/external field resources.
  • Responsible for coordination of on time, financially strong transmission line projects.
  • Work cross-functionally with other departments and leads to deliver efficient, impactful, and cost-effective asset and reliability enhancements.
  • Participate in exciting, innovative projects.
  • Be able to grow, learn, and contribute within an ever-changing environment
  • Be a great communicator with key stakeholders of the projects

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Strong multitasking, coordination, and critical thinking skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • General understanding of transmission line construction, electrical utility terminology, technology, concepts, standards & regulations is desirable.
  • Experience in utility engineering, construction management, and project planning is a plus.

This position offers a competitive salary range of $75,000-$125,000 annually, commensurate with experience, qualifications, and the scope of responsibilities.
