Job description

As Head of Business Analysis for the Insurance Domain, you will lead the business analysis function for the engagement and be the authoritative voice on how the London insurance market actually works within a strategic delivery partnership embedded with one of the UK's largest insurance brokers. Working alongside the Transformation Leader, who owns programme direction, governance and delivery, you will own the domain: ensuring that every design decision, process change and platform choice reflects the realities of broking, the Lloyd's market and its regulation.

You will translate the operations of placement, delegated authority, claims, reinsurance and settlement into clear requirements, target processes and data definitions that delivery teams can build against, and act as the trusted domain advisor to client stakeholders from underwriting operations through to finance.

What Will You Be Doing?
Domain Authority & Advisory

Act as the recognised subject matter expert on UK insurance broking and Lloyd's and London market operations across the engagement, including placement, binding, delegated authority, MGAs, market messaging, claims and settlement.

Advise the Transformation Leader, architects and client stakeholders on how market practice, regulation and Lloyd's modernisation should shape solution and process decisions.

Provide an informed, current view on Blueprint Two and market modernisation, and what it means for the broker's platforms, data and processes.

Support the assessment of vendor platforms and market solutions for fit against real broking operations.

Business Analysis & Process Design

Lead the analysis of current state broking processes across the value chain, identifying inefficiency, rekeying, control gaps and data quality issues.

Design target processes and operating procedures for placement through to settlement, including delegated authority and bordereaux management.

Define business requirements, user stories and acceptance criteria for platform and integration workstreams, and validate that delivered functionality works for the market.

Own domain data definitions and mappings across policy, claims, finance and market messaging flows, including ACORD standards and MRC.

Regulatory & Market Compliance

Ensure designs and processes respect FCA requirements including client money (CASS 5), Lloyd's requirements, GDPR and operational resilience expectations.

Support regulatory impact assessment of change, and act as the domain reference point for compliance and risk stakeholders.

Lead and grow the business analysis capability on the engagement: setting standards for requirements, process design and documentation, and assuring the quality of BA outputs across workstreams.

Mentor and coach analysts, building domain fluency across the team so market knowledge scales beyond one person.

Plan and prioritise analysis effort across concurrent workstreams in step with the Transformation Leader's delivery plan.

Stakeholder Engagement & Knowledge Transfer

Build trusted relationships with client underwriting, broking operations, claims and finance teams, facilitating workshops and walkthroughs.

Support testing, adoption and business readiness with domain scenarios, market test cases and training input.

What Are We Looking For?

A deep, credible London Market practitioner: someone who has lived the operations of broking or the Lloyd's market, can explain them with clarity and authority, and enjoys being the expert the whole programme leans on. This role does not carry programme budget or delivery accountability; it carries domain and analysis accountability, including leadership of the BA team.

Significant hands on experience within the Lloyd's and London insurance market: a broking house, Lloyd's managing agency, MGA or market focused insurer or vendor.

Deep working knowledge of the broking lifecycle: submission, placement, quoting, binding, policy production, endorsements, premium processing and settlement.

Strong delegated authority expertise: binders, coverholders, MGAs, bordereaux management and data quality.

Working knowledge of reinsurance, treaty and facultative, and how it flows through market systems.

Familiarity with market messaging and standards: ACORD, EBOT and ECOT, MRC, and digital placement platforms such as PPL or Whitespace.

Current awareness of Lloyd's modernisation (Blueprint Two) and its practical implications for market participants.

Proven business analysis and process design capability: requirements definition, target process design, data mapping and acceptance testing in complex change programmes.

Understanding of the regulatory environment: FCA conduct requirements, client money (CASS 5), Lloyd's minimum standards and GDPR.

A reinsurance qualification, such as the relevant CII reinsurance unit, given the reinsurance scope of the estate.

Excellent communication and workshop facilitation skills, with credibility in front of senior market practitioners.

Desirable Qualifications & Experience

CII qualifications (Cert CII, Dip CII or ACII), or London market credentials such as LM1, LM2, LM3 or LLMIT.

Experience with broking and policy administration platforms (for example Applied Epic, Acturis, Guidewire, Duck Creek, Sequel, Sapiens) and bordereaux tools (for example VIPR, Intrali).

Exposure to applying AI or GenAI to market processes such as submission ingestion, MRC extraction or claims triage.

Experience of M&A driven change within broking or insurance, such as book migrations or platform consolidation.

Business analysis or agile credentials (for example BCS, IIBA, Scrum) and experience working within a strategic partner or systems integrator model.
