    Overall Purpose of Job:

    MUFG in EMEA have an ambitious change programme to bring about transformative positive change to the company in region across four strategic pillars – Generate Profitable Growth, Enhance Efficiency, Strength Culture and Strengthen Governance.

    The Transformation Communications Manager reports to the Head of Internal Communications and is responsible for translating programme and workstream content into a compelling narrative with key messages and content delivered through appropriate channels, promoting positive engagement, advocacy and adoption within MUFG in EMEA.

    This role works within the Corporate Communications team and partners closely with the Change Management team. The Corporate Communications team is responsible for a range of key activities across EMEA, including executive leadership communications, employee-wide internal communications, brand and reputation management, media relations, website and digital channels and oversight of our corporate social responsibility (CSR) agenda. We work closely with Change Management to connect the organisation and drive employee pride and understanding on various transformation and culture initiatives.

    Primary responsibilities

    • Partner with Chief Transformation Officer, Chief Technology Officer, key management stakeholders and other subject matter experts to execute awareness and engagement campaigns to transform the company culture, and drive change that supports growth.
    • Devise and execute strategic communications strategy (and supporting communications plans for identified transformation priorities) in support of major business change and growth initiatives, to cover all aspects of the MUFG EMEA Transformation strategy including, but not limited to, Technology, Change Management, Operations and other relevant departments.
    • Takes ownership for the development, management and execution of the Transformation communications strategy.
    • Produces high-quality, impactful content and leverages existing corporate communication channels.
    • Build and maintain employee understanding, engagement and adoption of individual transformation “wins” and activities.
    • Provide guidance, advice and examples of best practice to support leaders in developing and driving their communication plans, ensuring consistency of message, as appropriate.
    • Work as part of MUFG EMEA Corporate Communications to support region-wide communication efforts, and ensure alignment of messaging with group-wide strategy.
    • Champion the use of creative and engaging communication methods and ensure that MUFG’s communication tools are used effectively to drive engagement and instil pride throughout the business.
    • Writing, editing and delivering programme communications including presentations, face to face, newsletters and intranet, to support the roll out of each project.
    • Work with the Internal Communication function to implement a consistent message and tone of voice across the programme.
    • Evaluate the impact of communications through analytics and feedback channels, assessing the effectiveness of communication delivered and take actions to improve.
    • Contributes to the development of a performance scorecard to measure the success of the transformation communications programme.
    • Although primarily focused on internal communications, the nature of the work will demand that the successful candidate feels comfortable working across external communication, particularly in respect to executive visibility for various leadership team members.

    Work Experience

    • Financial Services Transformational change communications experience - being the person who has lead communications for a number of change projects.
    • Driving culture and behaviour change, employee engagement through a variety of channels.
    • Comfortable in working with, and taking direction from, multiple stakeholders and has the ability to fit within and complement existing team relationships.
    • Able to operate in a matrix organization and has the ability to influence the actions of the organization’s most senior leaders: in country and regionally
    • Strong and proven commercial instincts and technical internal communications knowledge, combined with resilience, culture awareness and diplomacy to achieve stakeholder engagement.
    • Ability to work under pressure and manage numerous projects simultaneously.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Financial or professional services experience preferred.
    • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of work experience required, with 8-10+ years of related experience preferred.

    This is a hands on role and will appeal to a seasoned communications professional who enjoys setting others up for success, is comfortable engaging with both senior and junior stakeholders and enjoys developing strategy and taking it through to activation.
