An established industry player is seeking a dedicated Source Handler to join their dedicated unit in Birmingham. Applications are invited from Constables for the position of Source Handler within the West Midlands Police Dedicated Source Unit. The role is based near Birmingham city centre, but applicants should be aware that they may be posted anywhere within the Force area and will be required to perform on-call duties.
Applicants must demonstrate the highest levels of integrity, communication, and report writing skills. A broad operational and investigative background, along with an understanding of the intelligence process, is essential. The role is challenging, rewarding, and carries significant responsibility.
Responsibilities include ensuring performance aligns with Force priorities, maintaining compliance with Standard Operating Procedures and legal requirements.
Successful candidates will need to pass management vetting and security clearance, including a full background and financial disclosure. Medical checks, drug tests, and fitness assessments may also be required.

The process includes paper sift, assessment, interview, and SC enhanced vetting. Candidates will attend a three-week handler core skills course and may be subject to drug and alcohol testing.
