Job summary

British Transport Police in Stevenage is recruiting an experienced Detective Constable to join the Criminal Investigation Department. You will lead complex investigations across the railway network, safeguarding vulnerable people and bringing offenders to justice.

British Transport Police (BTP) are recruiting experienced, proactive and community-focused investigators to join our Criminal Investigation Department (CID) as a Detective Constable based in Stevenage. This opportunity is open to PIP2-qualified Detective Constables who are passionate about delivering high-quality investigations, safeguarding vulnerable people and bringing offenders to justice.

Are You Eligible?
  • Applicants must be a current or former officer from a Home Office Police Force, Police Scotland, PSNI or British Transport Police
  • Must be able to be operational.
  • Applicants must be substantive in the rank of Detective Constable
  • Applicants must hold a current PIP2 Investigator Accreditation
  • Transferees must have completed their probationary period
  • Re-joiners must apply within 5 years of leaving policing and have previously been substantive in rank
  • Must have lived in the UK for the past 3 consecutive years
  • No live misconduct warnings or performance issues
  • Cannot be under current investigation by another force
  • No active CCJs, unmanaged IVAs, or bankruptcy
  • We do not accept applications from those dismissed from another force
  • We do not accept applications if you have been declined vetting at another Force within 2 years
  • Applicants must hold a full UK driving licence.**
