Job summary

Veolia is looking for a Transfer Station Supervisor in Rochester to lead the daily operations of the transfer station, managing staffing, plant availability and ensuring permit compliance at Rochester Transfer Station.

You will oversee waste movements, supervise equipment, maintain safety procedures and coordinate with contractors to maximise efficiency. A full UK driving licence and Mobile Plant licence are essential, with 25 days holiday and pension benefits.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a similar operational environment.
• Mobile Plant licence for loading shovel or 360 excavator.
• Full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver day-to-day operations (plant availability, staffing levels, resources, maintenance tasks).
• Carry out site inspections and monitoring for VMR and permit compliance.
• Follow Fire watch / heat monitoring procedures.
• Ensure material inputs and outputs meet quality standards.
• Ensure all outgoing loads have correct paperwork in place (Annex 7's, TransFrontierShipment etc.).
• Manage waste flows / volumes / transport booking.
• Feedback on close calls / respect reports.
• Reporting, managing and closing out events.
• Stop the Job empowerment and report any safety issues.
• Supervise and operate the Front Loading Shovel and 360-degree Excavator to transport waste safely.
• Routine maintenance and cleaning of mobile plant and equipment, including oils and water checks and reporting defects.
• Liaise with site personnel, contractors, tipping authorities and haulage department.
• To ensure that outgoing weights of material are maximised.
• Control vehicle movements.
• Supervise and operate the weighbridge.
