Job summary

Transfer Station Manager in Ipswich seeks an experienced leader to run the site, ensure Health & Safety and Environmental compliance, and deliver first class customer service in line with predefined KPIs, promoting employee engagement to support continuous improvement in productivity and service quality.

You will coach and train the team, manage the full P&L budget, drive cost control and cross-divisional collaboration to provide integrated waste solutions and sustainable site profitability.

Qualifications

  • COTC is required.
  • Experience as Operations Manager or similar in services or logistics.
  • People and health & safety management in a unionised environment.

Responsibilities

  • Overseeing site adherence to health & safety, security, employee relations and legislation.
  • Ensuring service delivery meets defined KPIs with cost control and productivity improvements.
  • Supervising, coaching and training the team to deliver high levels of customer service.
  • Promoting open communication across departments and reviewing processes.
  • Developing staff through sharing best practice and development.
  • Managing Health & Safety, Environmental, Employment legislation and company policy compliance.
  • Agreeing and monitoring the full P&L budget to support year-on-year growth.
  • Working with cross-divisional teams to provide integrated waste solutions and improve profitability.

Job description

Transfer Station Manager
Help us make a difference as a Transfer Station Manager in Ipswich.
Monday to Friday - 37.5 hours per week

The Transfer Station Manager will effectively manage the transfer station, ensuring consistent Health & Safety and Environmental compliance, and delivering first class customer service in line with pre-defined business KPI’s, promoting employee engagement to support continuous improvement in productivity and quality of service provision, through continuous review and improved site profitability, to support business growth and best in class performance.

Your core responsibilities
  • Overseeing site adherence to key site processes relating to health and safety, security, employee relations and legislation.
  • Ensuring service delivery meets defined key performance indicators whilst driving best practice and continuous improvement in cost control and productivity.
  • Supervising, coaching and training the team to produce the highest levels of customer service.
  • Promoting open channels of communications with all departments within the Division and the wider Biffa Business, and to proactively and consistently review all processes used by the Transfer Station.
  • Defining and supports the development of the staff as a whole by identifying and sharing best practice
  • Managing and ensuring compliance of Health & Safety, Environmental, Employment legislation and Company policy to ensure defined standards and best practice are adhered to.
  • Agreeing, monitoring and managing the full P&L budget, delegating accountability where appropriate, supporting financial year on year growth of the depot
  • Working within cross-divisional teams to provide integrated waste solutions using best practice and through continuous improvement.
Our essential requirements
  • COTC
  • Health & Safety qualification advantageous (IOSH or NEBOSH).
  • Experience as Operations Manager or position of similar responsibility in Services or Logistics industry.
  • People and health & safety management in a unionised environment.
