Job description

Job Description

Are you an experienced solicitor ready to take the next step in your non-contentious construction career, ideally based in Edinburgh?

One of the UK’s most prestigiousfirms is expanding its Transactional Construction practice and is now seeking a senior solicitor (6+ years’ PQE) to join its growing team in the Edinburgh office.

This is a rare opportunity to join a well-respected firm at a key stage of its development in Scotland. With a strong pipeline of complex and high-value infrastructure, development, and public sector projects, the firm is strategically placed within core growth sectors – both regionally and across the UK – that will continue to underpin long-term demand for specialist construction advice.

The route for advancement here is steady and well-defined. Unlike more saturated practice areas, non-contentious construction remains a relatively underdeveloped field in Scotland, meaning competition at senior levels is low. You’ll benefit from a clear runway to progress, backed by a supportive leadership team and a well-resourced client offering. You will be joining a team that has ambitious but sustainable growth plans over the next few years, providing the perfect environment to elevate your career without the pressure of internal bottlenecks or overcrowded hierarchies.

You’ll bring solid experience in advising clients on construction contracts (including NEC, JCT, FIDIC and bespoke agreements), ideally gained within a commercial firm or a high-quality boutique practice. A working knowledge of procurement, project structuring or infrastructure frameworks would be valuable, though not essential.

There may also be the option to get involved in contentious matters should you wish to broaden your practice, although this is not a requirement.

In return, you'll enjoy a high degree of autonomy, access to premium clients across public and private sectors, and an environment where your input will directly shape the direction of the team. The firm also offers a genuinely flexible hybrid working model and a positive, down-to-earth culture.

If you’re ready to be a key part of what I think is going to be the nextmajorgrowth stories in the Scottish legal market, please contact Neil Campbell at QED Legal in confidence to find out more.

I look forward to hearing from you.
