Job summary

KeolisAmey Metrolink (KAM) is recruiting Tram Drivers for Manchester’s iconic light rail network. The first 12 weeks are training-focused with hands-on driving, simulator sessions and classroom theory. This is a full-time role, average 37.5 hours per week, with a starting salary of £34,281 per year.

You’ll drive trams safely, maintain punctual services, and deliver excellent customer care. Requirements: 21+, UK driving licence with ≤3 points, and at least two years’ driving experience.

Qualifications

• UK driving licence required with no more than 3 points.
• At least 2 years driving experience.
• No colour vision deficiency due to signal-based operations.
• Willing to work shifts including early mornings and nights.

Responsibilities

• Operate Manchester’s trams with accuracy and a customer-first approach.
• Follow safety protocols, signalling, and speed limits.
• Respond calmly to incidents and maintain service reliability.
• Undergo regular upskilling and assessments to maintain skills.
• Perform pre-departure checks and secure trams after journeys.
• Maintain logs of departures, arrivals, and incidents.
• Communicate clearly with control centre and colleagues.
• Provide excellent customer service and assistance to passengers.
