Your role

There aren’t many jobs that combine the excitement and thrill of working with volunteer lifeboat crews with the satisfaction of knowing you’ve helped save lives. This vital role involves maintaining the lifeboat training fleet and acting as Mechanic during training courses.

Without the boats and training equipment, RNLI Trainers cannot perform their duties. As a Training Technician (Mechanic), your primary responsibility is to keep the training fleet in excellent condition by repairing any defects promptly to ensure equipment availability.

About You

In addition to onshore maintenance, you will act as Mechanic on training vessels during sea courses. You must be at least an operator level Mechanic on a current ALB.

This face-to-face contact with volunteers and staff offers opportunities to develop your life-boating skills. Your maritime engineering background should include a thorough understanding of operating machinery on various craft, safety at sea, and repairing small boats.

This position requires a valid driving licence. As a sea-going appointment, you must meet the Institution's medical and eyesight standards.
