Job description
Overview

The Training Programme Director for Trainees Requiring Extra Support (TRES) will support the Head of School in Strategic Development of the School of Surgery.

The post holder will lead on the development of the School’s Recruitment and Retention Strategy and contribute to supporting the School Operational Programme.

The post holder will be a member of the School Board.

As a result of NHS England's integration into the Department of Health and Social Care, the end date for all new educator secondments/posts will be 31 October 2026. The successful applicant will be updated regarding potential extensions beyond this date.

Responsibilities
  • Development and implementation of strategy to improve support for TRES trainees. This will include education and enhanced roles in development of educators and post graduate doctors in training (PGDIT).
  • Act as liaison to support PGDITs who have developmental needs (portfolio, targeted competencies or enhanced support) either identified by specialty specific training programme directors or educators.
