Full Time, Permanent, 40 hrs, Monday – Friday. Belvedere based with travel required. Salary: £36,176.03 per annum. Car provided.

Here at Serco, we deliver a critical contribution to the Criminal Justice System by providing all court custody and escorting services across four regions and seven areas of England. To ensure we provide the best level of training across the contract we have a highly motivated and dedicated team of training officers, and an exciting opportunity has arisen to join this team as a Training Officer. The role will be part of the Prisoner Escorting and Custody Services (PECS) contract, operating across various sites and locations. Responsible for assisting in the development, creation, and delivery of comprehensive training solutions in accordance with and in support of all statutory, MOJ, company and department requirements.

This will include supporting with Initial Training Courses and mandatory refreshers, to drive standards within the operation. You will also provide advice and guidance to line managers on training and development matters as well as conducting training sessions to engage and inspire the audience, helping to maintain a motivated and skilled workforce to fulfil the needs of contractual requirements.

Responsibilities
  • Support the development, creation, and delivery of comprehensive training solutions in line with statutory, MOJ, company and department requirements.
  • Assist with Initial Training Courses and mandatory refreshers to drive standards within the operation.
  • Provide advice and guidance to line managers on training and development matters.
  • Conduct training sessions to engage and inspire learners and maintain a motivated and skilled workforce to meet contractual needs.
  • Work across various sites and locations as part of the PECS contract.
What you need to do the job
  • Excellent organisation and planning skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Creative ability to identify, develop and deliver informative training programmes using a variety of methodologies.
  • Ability to complete training evaluation and knowledge gap checks to demonstrate tangible learning benefits.
  • Excellent and confident communication skills to foster positive professional relationships with internal colleagues and external stakeholders.
Qualifications
  • Level 3 Award in Education and Training or willingness to work towards one.
  • Use of Force instructors’ qualification or willingness to work towards one.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.
  • Willingness to travel to and from sites across the PECS and SJITT contracts, which may include overnight stays.

This role is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and all offers of employment are subject to security clearance checks and Home Office approval, and satisfactory employment references.
