The Training Device Manager will join a management team responsible for Boeing's Gatwick Campus Flight Simulator Training Device (FSTD) operations, maintenance, repair, updates, and regulatory compliance. They will have responsibility to lead simulator technicians in a 24/7 operation, maintaining a safety first culture, while championing quality and service for Boeing’s training customers. The role requires extensive collaboration with campus stakeholders, engineering teams, flight training, suppliers, and Boeing’s global training network to ensure customer training delivery and business goals and objectives are met.
Position Responsibilities:
Manages team of simulator technicians to ensure 24/7 simulator readiness for customers, while prioritizing safety, quality, and regulatory compliance of training devices
Provides technical expertise in the areas of simulator hardware, software, operation, and maintenance to ensure seamless operations
Works with engineering and suppliers to execute device updates and upgrades
Oversees regulatory compliance activities including National Aviation Authority regulator evaluations, process requirements, and documentation
Develops, motivates, and coaches team in technical and professional activities to maintain high morale, an inclusive culture, and a robust talent pipeline
Maintains close relationships and collaboration with fellow managers, customers, stakeholders, and Boeing’s global simulator operations network
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
5+ years of experience in any of the following areas: maintaining, updating, modifying, designing commercial or military aircraft flight simulation training devices, aircraft flight deck or aircraft avionics
1+ years of experience leading teams in a formal and /or informal leadership role
Experience with commercial simulator certification and safety requirements and procedures
Experience with team building, developing and motivating employees
This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite in Crawley, West Sussex. The position may require flexible hours to support 24/7 operations and team. Position may involve travel up to 10%.
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
Experience in CS-FSTD(A) (or equivalent) aviation training and/or training design, distribution and compliance
Experience in maintaining CAE, L3 and/or FSI Full Flight Simulators
Experience with Boeing aircraft operation and maintenance
