Training & Competence Supervisor

This role is based within our Training and Competence (T&C) team at Sandringham Financial Partners, part of M&G. Sandringham is a leading independent national advice firm offering innovative financial advice. M&G, as the parent company, is one of the largest financial services firms globally and a FTSE100 constituent, committed to empowering clients with confidence in their financial decisions.

The Role

The T&C team supports 170 advising Partners within the Sandringham network. The Supervisor's role is diverse, involving regulatory compliance, coaching, and maintaining advice standards. The successful candidate will contribute to regulatory alignment with SM&CR and AR regimes, and support adviser development. There are opportunities to develop interests in areas like AML, technical advice, pensions, investments, and business development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage a span of control of 30-40 financial IFA's, assess KPIs, conduct Fit and Proper assessments, analyze business structures and records for compliance with SM&CR, AR, and other regimes.
  • Identify risks or trends within the business.
  • Develop strategies to mitigate risks within the team and wider advice workforce.
  • Conduct quarterly 121s with advisers, providing support and feedback for compliance and smooth regime transitions.
  • Deliver training on induction and ad-hoc sessions.
  • Create and deliver internal content via the Sandringham Academy system.
  • Present key messages at training events across the UK or online.
  • Support advisers via phone, email, or Teams.
  • Respond to regulatory queries related to financial planning, technical matters, and T&C.
  • Engage with stakeholders, including senior management.
  • Assist new advisers in achieving competent adviser status through role plays, observations, and standards implementation.
  • Support project work and workflows such as AR reviews, AML queries, and system updates.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

  • Experience in supervisory roles within financial services.
  • Level 4 Diploma in Financial Planning.
  • (Desirable) CF6, CF8, ER1, J07, Advanced Diploma in Financial Planning.
  • Knowledge of SM&CR, PROD, MiFID, AR Regime.
  • Proactive and able to work independently.
  • Flexible to business needs.
  • Experience with Later Life products is advantageous.
  • Willingness to travel within the UK.
  • Excellent stakeholder communication skills, including with senior management.
  • Resilient and able to handle busy periods.
