Job description

Overview

Fuse Energy is a forward-thinking renewable energy company on a mission to deliver a terawatt of clean energy globally. We are creating a fully integrated energy system: from developing utility-scale solar and wind projects to real-time power trading and distributed energy installations. By selling directly to consumers, we lower costs and pass the savings on to our customers.

We're building a new Training Centre in Birmingham to bring engineer training and assessment in-house. We're looking for a Centre Manager to lead it; running the centre day to day, owning its quality and accreditation, and building Birmingham into a fully accredited training operation. This is a leadership and quality-assurance role rather than a hands-on training role: you'll manage the trainers, and you'll be the person who makes sure the centre meets its standards.

Responsibilities
  • Run the day-to-day operation of the training centre - facilities, scheduling, budget, and team.
  • Lead and line-manage the training team.
  • Own the centre's quality-management system and lead internal quality assurance - independently sampling and verifying trainers' assessment decisions.
  • Own the centre's accreditation: act as the named point of contact for the awarding bodies, and take the centre through approval and ongoing audits.
  • Build and maintain the centre's compliance framework - health & safety, safeguarding, data protection, equality & diversity, malpractice and appeals.
  • Lead health & safety across a site with live gas and electrical practical work.
  • Drive continuous improvement across the centre's training and quality operations.
  • Level 4 Internal Quality Assurance qualification (IQA/V1, or equivalent), so you can verify assessment decisions across the centre.
  • Level 3 Award in Education and Training (AET).
  • A recognised assessing qualification (TAQA, CAVA, or equivalent).
  • Experience managing a training centre, workshop, or similar technical/vocational operation, including managing people and owning a budget. li>
  • Hands-on technical background in at least one of our training areas - smart metering (gas and electric), electrical, EV installation, heat pumps, solar, BESS. li>
  • Experience owning compliance and quality standards for a training or technical operation - ideally as a point of contact for an awarding body or accreditation scheme. li>
  • Health & safety leadership experience across technical or practical work. li>
Nice-to-haves
  • IOSH/NEBOSH or equivalent health & safety management qualification. li>
  • Experience working as an electrician / JIB Gold Card. li>
  • Experience taking a training centre through awarding-body approval. li>
  • Competitive base salary with performance-related bonuses. li>
  • Opportunity to gain meaningful equity options in a fast-growing energy company. li>
  • Full-time, stable employment in a rapidly growing sector. li>
  • Opportunities for professional development and additional advanced certifications. li>
  • The chance to work alongside a world-class team building the future of the global energy grid. li>
