Job description

Fulbridge Social Care is recruiting both experienced and non-experienced Residential Youth Workers to join our casual team, working in children’s residential homes and Independent Living settings. We seek flexible, reliable, and interactive individuals eager to work in a specialist environment where full training and qualifications are provided.

The position involves providing security, guidance, interaction, and support to young people with challenging behaviour and complex needs within residential or independent living environments. The goal is to create an environment that caters to their intellectual, spiritual, social, and emotional needs.

You will work with young people aged 11 to 18 who are in the care system for various reasons and have diverse disorders, behaviours, and needs. Successful candidates should have confidence, patience, and the skills to make a positive impact on their lives.

Your role includes supporting young people throughout the day with tasks such as meal preparation, cleaning, education, and shopping. You will also interact with professionals like Social Workers, Probation Officers, and Police Officers, and support young people in settings such as classrooms, courts, and police stations.

A valid driving license is essential, as you will need to drive the unit car to destinations like family contacts, school, and social activities.

Please note that you will be required to complete an enhanced DBS check with Fulbridge Social Care and successfully finish one of our induction programs before placements are offered.

Main duties and responsibilities:

  1. Build strong professional relationships with service users and staff
  2. Maintain a safe, clean, and enjoyable environment for young people and staff
  3. Keep up-to-date with communication and information systems
  4. Participate actively in meetings
  5. Support young people in managing their behaviour using approved skills
  6. Promote equality and acknowledge individual differences
  7. Protect service users from abuse by staff, visitors, or other service users
  8. Write accurate reports for reviews and maintain records for monitoring
  9. Attend all required training and achieve relevant qualifications
  10. Attend work reliably and punctually, following shift patterns
  11. Stay updated on procedures and policy changes
  12. Ensure health and safety for yourself and others
  13. Perform any additional relevant duties as required
