Job summary

The Recruitment Group in Coventry is seeking a hands-on Vehicle Technician – Trainee / Development to join a team delivering assembly, integration and refurbishment of armed and specialist vehicles.

You will work under supervision, developing practical mechanical skills and progressing toward a full Vehicle Technician role across new-build and refurbishment projects. This entry role focuses on learning and career growth within a supportive team.

Qualifications

• Practical hands-on mechanical experience in automotive, HGV, plant, aerospace, rail, military or similar industries.
• Basic understanding of mechanical tools, fixings, fasteners and workshop safety.
• Ability to follow written instructions, diagrams and Manufacturing Instructions accurately.
• Willingness to learn new skills and develop towards a full Vehicle Technician role.

Responsibilities

• Build and fit simple mechanical sub-assemblies to vehicle platforms using MI and drawings.
• Carry out vehicle preparation activities, including removing trims and cleaning areas.
• Assist with integration of new parts and equipment within production cells under supervision.
• Carry out visual inspections of parts and escalate defects or documentation issues.
• Safely and correctly use hand tools such as spanners and torque tools.
• Maintain 5S standards in the work area.
• Follow HSE procedures and use required PPE.
• Accurately complete build records and basic quality documentation.
• Work flexibly across different production cells and projects.
• Collaborate with experienced technicians and seek guidance when needed.
