Job description

One of the most important objectives for us all at SES Water is the reduction of leaks and maintenance of our networks. We’re currently in a good position with a full reservoir and water stores, but we can’t afford to rely on continuous heavy rainfall for our supply. We need to ensure we don’t waste a drop.

All of us at SES Water, regardless of whether we are office or field based, share a service mindset. In practice, this means we provide our customers (who are very often our colleagues too) with great support and customer care.

As a part of this incredible support network, the Trainee Utilities Fitter reports into the Section Manager of our Supply department and will join the team repairing, maintaining and replacing the pipes, portable mains and all everything in between. Sounds easy? It’s hard manual work. Our network infrastructure comes in all shapes and sizes and often needs attention outside of office hours in driving wind, pouring rain, sleet or snow.

Don’t worry, we provide protective (and warm) clothing and you’ll be well recompensed for standby and rota’d weekends.

As part of your role and training you’ll be:

·Helping to maintain our high standards for customers, Health and Safety requirements, and environmental considerations.

·Showing respect and consideration to those affected by works

·Excavating, and repairing all sizes of pipe and ancillary apparatus within the water mains network

·Loading and unloading materials, backfilling and reinstatement excavations.

·Helping with daily vehicle and plant maintenance checks

·Keeping the Redhill yard compliant with site-based risk assessments

·Recording all details of work carried out on site.

This is a trainee role - we don’t have a long list of requirements, but we do need you to be:

·physically fit

·willing to learn

·responsive to instructions

·polite and responsive to customers

If you have a full driving licence and/or any experience in construction that would be great, but not essential.

What We Offer:

We have a welcoming team and offer high quality training (including a Repair & Maintenance bootcamp) setting our colleagues up for success in developing a career path where you can learn new skills.

We offer a range of benefits for your personal and financial wellbeing.

For your financial wellbeing:

·Salary of £29848 per annum

·Substantial overtime and standby pay

·Employer contribution up to 10% on our Group Personal Pension Plan

·Life assurance

·Company bonus scheme

·Salary Finance: Financial education, loans and savings

·On site garage with service discount

For your personal wellbeing:

·25 days annual leave increasing to 27 days with length of service

·Health care Cash back scheme and Surgical Choices

·Aqualibrium - On site Mental Health First Aiders and free annual health checks

·Confidential crisis support, counselling and legal advice

·One day paid volunteering a year
