Overview

The Risk Managed team in Leeds is looking for a motivated and driven individual, to train as a Commercial Underwriter. The candidate should be able to display enthusiasm to develop and build their career in Insurance. In this role communication and quick learning is key. The role is supported with extensive training and a structured career pathway to help you grow and develop

How you\'ll make an impact

• Build and manage relationships with Brokers, by listening, understanding and meeting customer needs to support new business and retaining existing customers through delivering excellent service.
• Develop sound risk and business awareness alongside learning our risk appetite.
• Dealing with technical problems, queries by referring to policy wordings, procedures and in accordance to our underwriting strategy.
• Administer and monitor underwriting rules and guidelines and insurance laws and regulations.
• Be an active team member of a large multi-location Underwriting environment.
• Be an active participant in the shaping of Pen Underwriting culture through volunteering, fundraising, participating in office activities etc.

About You

Ideally the successful candidate with hold an academic degree and be willing to work towards their Chartered Insurance Institute Diploma qualification, to which the business will offer full support with study time and financial support

Technical Knowledge

• Strong knowledge of MS Office (Word, Powerpoint, Excel)

Experience

• Some experience of delivering excellent customer service is preferable

• A strong desire to learn and develop for a Senior role in Underwriting
• Excellent communication and analytical skills.
• A solutions (problem solving) and service orientation.
• Proactive, independent, reliable and self- motivated
