A leading multi-modal logistics business is looking for a Transport Assistant to join their Milton Keynes depot. As a Transport Assistant, your duties will include administrative tasks, customer service, and operational responsibilities. This role is designed for development, with the aim of progressing the right candidate to a Transport Planner position. It is ideal for an ambitious individual seeking to develop a career in Transport.
As a Transport Assistant, you will support the daily operations of vehicles to ensure prompt and on-time deliveries. You will update transport systems to track vehicle, trailer, and job statuses to meet delivery schedules. Additionally, you will ensure vehicles and trailers are serviced and MOT'd before use, assist drivers with managing their hours and breaks to remain compliant, and help drivers and customers resolve queries and issues during routes.
The ideal candidate will be an excellent communicator, confident, able to work under pressure, and eager to learn. As this is a trainee role, our client is open to candidates with diverse industry experience or recent graduates. Proficiency in Microsoft Office is preferred.
The role is based in their Ipswich depot. Working hours will be on a 4 on 4 off shift pattern (6am - 6pm). During training, the schedule will be Monday - Friday on a standard day shift. Flexibility may be required due to the nature of logistics operations.
Salary ranges from £18,000 to £21,000 per annum, depending on experience. The company offers a friendly working environment, additional benefits, and opportunities for career progression, including training to become a Transport Planner.
The working pattern in Ipswich will alternate weekly: Week 1 (7am-5pm) and Week 2 (8am-6pm), with some flexibility in start and finish times due to operational needs.
