Job summary

SRL Traffic Systems in the United Kingdom is seeking a Trainee Traffic Systems Technician. This entry-level, field-based role is ideal for a practical, physically fit person eager to learn, with a full UK driving licence and a willingness to develop technical skills.

You will join a team that delivers, installs, and maintains portable traffic light systems, supports customers on-site, and operates in all weather. Training is provided, and overtime and on-call opportunities exist.

Qualifications

• Full UK driving licence (no more than 6 points).
• Physically fit to lift and carry heavy equipment.
• Comfortable working outdoors in all weather.
• Practical, safety-focused and reliable.

Responsibilities

• Deliver, set up, and configure portable traffic light systems at customer sites.
• Carry out on-site battery exchanges to keep equipment operational.
• Inspect, repair, and maintain hire fleet equipment in the depot.
• Load, unload, and transport equipment safely using a company vehicle.
• Keep accurate records using mobile technology and internal systems.
• Provide excellent customer service, ensuring equipment is installed safely and correctly.
• Participate in on-call rota and offer support during out-of-hours situations.

We are looking for a Trainee Traffic Systems Technician to join SRL Traffic Systems, the UK leader in portable traffic lights, temporary traffic management equipment, and intelligent transport technology. This role is ideal for someone practical, physically fit, and eager to build technical skills. No industry experience is needed, just a full UK driving licence and a willingness to learn. Key Responsibilities

In this hands-on, field-based role, you will:

• Deliver, set up, and configure portable traffic light systems at customer sites

• Load, unload, and transport equipment safely using a company vehicle

Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm, overtime, on-call rota. Environment: Outdoor, physical work in all weather conditions.

Must-Have Qualifications & Requirements

• Basic electrical knowledge
• Experience driving vans or towing trailers
