Job summary

Trainee Traffic Signals Installer in St Albans is field-based with a competitive salary, overtime, a company vehicle and benefits. No prior signals experience is required; you will learn to install, maintain and commission traffic signals and related equipment alongside experienced engineers.

You’ll work outdoors on diverse sites, gain hands-on skills, and progress through relevant training and qualifications while contributing to safer, smarter transport solutions in the UK.

Qualifications

• No prior traffic signals experience required; willingness to learn.
• Some electrical, engineering or practical experience encouraged.
• Electrical qualification or college course would be beneficial.
• Full Manual UK driving licence required.
• Ability to travel to customer sites and work outdoors.

Responsibilities

• Support the installation and commissioning of traffic signals and equipment.
• Learn testing, maintenance and fault-finding of electrical equipment.
• Work safely on customer sites and follow site procedures.
• Develop skills with experienced engineers/installers.
• Complete relevant training and industry qualifications as you progress.
• Build experience with technology that helps keep people moving safely.
