Job Description:

When you join our Engineering Team at Telent, you'll be empowered to innovate and drive common solutions, working closely with technical experts who are proud of the impact their work makes. Come join a high-performing team doing complex and critical work. Help build and keep the nation's critical infrastructure connected and protected 24/7.

Reporting into the Contract Manager, the Trainee Traffic Maintenance Engineer will join a talented team of Traffic Signals specialists in the Oxfordshire region. Due to growth and demand from our customer(s), we are in a position to grow our Traffic team in this region.

What you’ll do:

As a Trainee Traffic Maintenance Engineer, you will work closely with one of our experienced Traffic Engineers to troubleshoot, fix, maintain, and test a range of Traffic Signals / Traffic Lights and electrical equipment that is associated with this, in and around the Oxfordshire region.

Training isn’t in a classroom; it is a healthy mix of ‘on the job’ learning, providing you with an opportunity to work towards an NVQ in Electrical Installations and Sector-based certifications such as ECS and the National Highways Sector Scheme (NHSS) Chapter 8.

Who you are:

You will naturally have an interest in troubleshooting, fixing, testing, and maintaining electrical equipment, and already have some exposure to anything electrical – whether that’s working with outdoor lighting, CCTV, controllers, detection boxes, telecommunications/radio equipment, etc., or you’ve had some experience via a College-related course/Diploma.

Key Requirements:

  • Motivation and willingness to learn on the job and via online learning
  • Previous experience of Electrical testing, maintenance, fixing, or installing, or a holder of an Electrical course/diploma or similar
  • Ability to problem-solve and provide ideas – ultimately the job requires you to think outside the box and work through “fault finding instructions”
  • Full UK Driving Licence holder and live in the Oxfordshire region
  • Able to and willing to undertake a Drugs & Alcohol test to ensure compliance

What we offer:

A career at Telent can span many sectors, roles, technologies, and clients giving you the opportunity to develop, learn new skills, and make an impact. We are growing, and we rely on our committed Team to deliver.

We nurture the talent that makes this happen, by our ongoing commitment to creating an inclusive culture that respects and values difference, that celebrates diverse ideas. We want everyone to feel they can be themselves and thrive at work.

The additional benefits with this role:

  • Company Van
  • 34 days holiday, including public holidays, plus the option to buy or sell days annually OR 26 days holiday, plus public holidays, and the option to buy or sell days annually
  • Company pension scheme
  • A range of family-friendly policies
  • Occupational health support and wellbeing Portal
  • Discounts on Cinema, Restaurants, and Shopping with Telent Reward scheme.
