Job summary

Vision for Education Ltd is recruiting a Trainee Teaching Assistant for schools in Street, Glastonbury and surrounding areas. The role offers full-time or part-time hours with a £14.24 p/h PAYE rate and September 2026 start.

The National Teaching Assistant Programme (NTAP) provides online safeguarding, SEN understanding, and behaviour management training after interview, prior to hands-on classroom experience.

Qualifications

  • Experience supporting pupils with SEND/SEMH
  • Ability to build relationships with pupils and staff
  • Willingness to complete NTAP training after interview
  • Commitment to safeguarding and inclusive education

Responsibilities

  • Build strong relationships with pupils and staff
  • Support students with SEND, SEMH, autism and additional learning needs
  • Assist the class teacher with lesson delivery and behaviour management
  • Support pupils on a 1:1 and small-group basis in the classroom
  • Help pupils with literacy, numeracy and emotional regulation

Job: Trainee Teaching Assistant - SEN Schools - Vision for Education

Location:Street / Glastonbury and the surrounding area
Salary:£14.24 p/h - higher rates available depending on experience/qualifications
Contract Type:Full-time & part-time available
Start Date:September 2026

Ready to kickstart your career as a Teaching Assistant? Vision for Education are excited to offer the opportunity to become a Teaching Assistant in mainstream and SEN Schools across North Somerset. Our National Teaching Assistant Programme (NTAP) provides excellent online training in courses such as Safeguarding, Understanding SEN, Behaviour Management and an Introduction into becoming a Teaching Assistant. These courses are a requirement after a successful interview, and are beneficial to gain knowledge in these topics prior to gaining hands-on classroom experience.

We are currently recruiting Trainee Teaching Assistants for permanent, temporary, and long-term supply positions across a network of high-performing and outstanding schools inStreet / Glastonbury and the surrounding area.

As a Trainee Teaching Assistant, your responsibilities will include:

  • Building strong relationships with pupils and staff
  • Supporting students with SEND, SEMH, autism, and additional learning needs
  • Assisting the class teacher with lesson delivery and behaviour management
  • Supporting students in the classroom on a 1:1 and small-group basis
  • Helping pupils with literacy, numeracy, and emotional regulation
  • Creating a positive, inclusive learning environment

As a Trainee Teaching Assistant, you will work in welcoming, inclusive, and well-resourced schools that:

  • Encourage creativity, wellbeing, and personal development alongside academic achievement
  • Offer excellent CPD opportunities for staff
  • Are rated Outstanding or Good by Ofsted
  • Have strong leadership teams and supportive SEN departments
  • Promote positive behaviour policies and high academic standards
  • Provide nurturing environments for pupils with SEND, SEMH, EAL, and additional needs

Pay & Hours:14.24 p/h (PAYE) Monday - Friday 08:30am - 15:30pm, term time only.
