Trainee Teaching Assistant

Are you passionate about working with young people? Are you considering a future career in education? An exciting opportunity has arisen for a committed and enthusiastic individual to join our vibrant and inclusive client secondary school in Hulme as a Trainee Teaching Assistant starting in September 2025.

This is an ideal role for someone looking to gain experience in a school setting, particularly if you're interested in progressing into teaching, SEND support, pastoral care, or educational psychology.

As a Trainee Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Support teachers in delivering high-quality lessons across a range of subjects.
  • Work with individual pupils or small groups, particularly those who need additional support.
  • Assist in the preparation of classroom resources and displays.
  • Help monitor student progress and behaviour, maintaining a safe and supportive learning environment.
  • Build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
  • Receive ongoing training, mentoring and professional development opportunities throughout the year.

This position provides a comprehensive introduction to working in education. You'll receive regular feedback and have opportunities to attend CPD (continuing professional development) sessions and shadow experienced staff.

We are looking for someone who is:

  • Energetic, empathetic, and passionate about helping young people achieve their best.
  • A strong communicator who works well as part of a team.
  • Reliable, punctual and organised with a proactive attitude.
  • Willing to learn and take on new challenges with a positive mindset.

Desirable (but not essential):

  • Experience working or volunteering with children or young people.
  • Interest in pursuing a career in education or youth work.
  • GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths.
