Job summary

Vision for Education is recruiting Trainee Teaching Assistants to support teachers and pupils across Garstang and Wyre. No prior school experience required; comprehensive training, safeguarding, and paid classroom placement are provided after a successful interview.

You will develop communication, teamwork and supportive skills in a varied primary/secondary environment, with DBS checks arranged and ongoing CPD.

Qualifications

• No prior school experience required; transferable skills from care or youth work are valued.
• Willingness to complete training and ongoing CPD.
• Enhanced DBS check and Update Service registration upon placement.

Responsibilities

• Support teachers in delivering engaging lessons.
• Work with small groups of pupils to reinforce learning.
• Provide one-to-one support for children who require additional help.
• Support pupils with SEND, SEMH or additional learning needs.
• Help create a positive and inclusive learning environment.
• Develop valuable experience across primary, secondary and specialist SEND settings.

Trainee Teaching Assistant

Garstang, PR3 and Wyre Area

Pay: £14.24 - £14.50 per hour via PAYE (salary dependent on experience and/or qualifications)

Vision for Education is excited to offer an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to begin a career as a Trainee Teaching Assistant within schools across Garstang, PR3 and the wider Wyre area. No previous school-based experience or formal teaching qualifications are required.

We are working in partnership with a range of primary, secondary and SEND schools across Garstang, Catterall, Great Eccleston, Scorton, Pilling, Hambleton, Knott End and surrounding PR3 and Wyre locations, providing successful candidates with high-quality training and paid classroom experience.

We are particularly interested in hearing from candidates with experience in:

• Support work
• Residential care
• Youth work
• Healthcare
• Mental health support
• Coaching or mentoring
• Customer-facing roles
• Working with children, young people or vulnerable adults

Many of the skills developed within these sectors are highly transferable to the classroom, including communication, relationship building, behaviour management, emotional support and teamwork.

Following a successful interview and completion of suitability, safeguarding and identity checks, we will work to secure you a paid placement in a local school where you can develop your skills and gain valuable hands‑on experience.

Before starting your placement, you will receive comprehensive training delivered by Vision for Education and experienced education professionals, ensuring you have the knowledge and confidence needed to succeed in the role.

As a Trainee Teaching Assistant, you may:
