Overview

What we’re looking for:

  • A strong desire to teach and a genuine interest in working with autistic students.

  • A relevant degree (or equivalent qualification) and a commitment to undertaking initial teacher training.

  • At least 6 months of experience working with children or young people with Special Educational Needs (SEN), ideally within an educational setting. This could be as a Teaching Assistant, support worker, or similar role.

  • A positive and proactive approach to supporting students, including those who may exhibit challenging behaviours. Your patience, empathy, and ability to build rapport will be crucial.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.

  • A valid UK driving license and access to a vehicle, as the role may involve supporting off-site learning opportunities or transporting students.

Responsibilities
  • Work alongside experienced teachers to plan, deliver, and assess engaging lessons tailored to the individual needs of autistic students.

  • Support students in developing academic skills, life skills, and social understanding.

  • Learn and implement effective strategies for managing challenging behaviours and promoting a positive learning environment.

  • Contribute to the holistic development and well-being of our students.

  • Participate in professional development, mentoring sessions, and all aspects of your teacher training programme.

  • Collaborate with staff, therapists, and families to ensure a consistent and supportive approach.
