Job summary

A community leisure organization in Birmingham is looking for swimming teachers to deliver engaging lessons. The role requires excellent communication skills and a passion for swimming. Overview

Available Working Hours: Various hours including day, evening & weekend work. Are you passionate about swimming? Are you naturally caring and supportive? Here at Birmingham Community Leisure Trust our goal is to get more people active by providing affordable safe and enjoyable lessons for all. We have an opportunity to train a new cohort of Swimming Teachers to grow our programmes and ensure we can make swimming accessible to all, regardless of ability or background.

Working as a swimming teacher will involve frequent interaction with customers. You will use your excellent communication and customer service skills to support people of all ages and backgrounds. You will be passionate about swimming and the service you deliver, using your motivational and organisational skills to deliver safe, fun and progressive lessons. If you can provide the enthusiasm, we will provide the training and qualification. To be considered, you must be available to work evenings and weekends from February and be willing to complete a lifesaving qualification NRASTC or NPLQ.

Responsibilities

– Deliver safe, fun and progressive swimming lessons following the Swim England learn to swim framework.

– Interact with customers and support learners of all ages and backgrounds.

– Use motivation and organisational skills to enable swimmers to build confidence and progress.

– Contribute to a positive and inclusive swimming environment in line with Trust policies.

Qualifications & Requirements

– Availability to work evenings and weekends from February.

– Willingness to complete a lifesaving qualification (NRASTC or NPLQ).

– Commitment to safeguarding and DBS checks (the Trust provides these).

– No need to hold personal insurance; coverage is provided by the Trust.

Serco manages these facilities on a day-to-day basis on behalf of the Trust. Our teachers contribute to the running of our centres and have opportunities for progression into aquatics coordination or other centre management roles across our 55 facilities.
