The Role:

This is a great opportunity to gain experience in Building Surveying within the Sustainable Business unit. As a Trainee Surveyor, your role is to gain practical experience and develop the necessary skills to become a proficient surveyor. You will work closely with senior surveyors and professionals in the field to learn and apply principles of air permeability, fenestration products, and property surveying, such as damp and energy assessments. Your primary objective is to contribute to accurate and reliable surveying data collection, analysis, and reporting, supporting various noise, energy, and property improvement projects. Your role is critical in supporting the delivery of surveying services. Through your commitment to learning and continuous improvement, you will develop into a skilled surveyor, contributing to project success and the growth of the surveying profession.

What to Expect:

  • Data Collection: Assist senior surveyors in gathering measurements, conducting surveys, and recording information using advanced surveying equipment such as digital meters, air test equipment, and digital levels.
  • Field Work Support: Collaborate with surveying teams during site inspections, surveys, and data collection activities. Help identify and resolve survey-related challenges under guidance.
  • Data Processing: Assist in analyzing survey data with specialized software, interpret data, identify anomalies, and suggest improvements.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Prepare survey reports, drawings, and documentation. Communicate survey findings effectively to colleagues, clients, and stakeholders.
  • Quality Assurance: Maintain high standards of accuracy and participate in quality control to ensure compliance with regulations and standards.

Who are we looking for:

  • Ability to travel independently to meet surveyors, using own transport
  • Minimum 1-year experience in a junior practical or technical role within construction, preferably in domestic retrofitting
  • Understanding of the Window and Door industry, including installation and removal of various window and door types
  • Basic knowledge of building regulations and building trades
  • Excellent face-to-face communication skills
  • Good customer service skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Self-driven and motivated
