The Role:

This is a great opportunity to gain experience in Building Surveying within the Sustainable Business unit. As a Trainee Surveyor, your role is to gain practical experience and develop the necessary skills to become a proficient surveyor. You will work closely with senior surveyors and professionals in the field to learn and apply the principles of air permeability, fenestration products, and property surveying, such as damp and energy assessments. Your primary objective is to contribute to accurate and reliable surveying data collection, analysis, and reporting, ultimately supporting the successful completion of various noise, energy and other property improvement projects. As a Trainee Surveyor, your role is critical in supporting the accurate and reliable delivery of surveying services. Through your commitment to learning and continuous improvement, you will develop into a skilled surveyor, contributing to the successful completion of projects and playing a vital role in the growth and development of the surveying profession.

What to Expect:

Data Collection: Assist senior surveyors in gathering accurate measurements, conducting surveys, and recording essential information using advanced surveying equipment and techniques. This may include digital meters, air test equipment, digital levels, etc.

Field Work Support: Collaborate with surveying teams in the field to provide assistance during site inspections, surveys, and other data collection activities. Contribute to the identification and resolution of survey-related challenges under the guidance of experienced professionals.

Data Processing: Assist in processing and analysing survey data using specialized software and tools. Learn to interpret collected data, identify anomalies or inconsistencies, and make recommendations for improvements.

Documentation and Reporting: Prepare accurate survey reports, drawings, and other necessary documentation. Learn to communicate survey findings effectively to colleagues, clients, and project stakeholders, ensuring clear and concise communication of technical information.

Quality Assurance: Work diligently to maintain high standards of accuracy and precision in all surveying activities. Participate in quality control processes, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations, standards, and best practices.

Who are we looking for:

  • Be able to travel independently to meet surveyors, by own means of transport
  • Minimum of 1-year’s experience in a junior level in a practical or technical role within the construction industry, preferably in the domestic retro fitting sector
  • An understanding of the Window and Door industry, including the removal and installation of casement windows, Vertical sash windows, composite doors, bifold doors, UPVC & aluminium single and double doors, patio doors and secondary windows
  • An understanding of building regulations, to a basic level
  • An understanding of building trades to a basic level
  • Must be an excellent face-to-face communicator
  • Must be able to demonstrate good customer skills
  • Ability to work on your own initiative and as a team player
  • Self-driven
