Job Title: Trainee Surveyor

We are an Aberdeen-based, leading provider of engineering and digital asset management solutions. By delivering ultra-efficient technology and safety-driven solutions, GDi helps our clients safely and efficiently manage their assets.

GDi is looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Trainee Surveyor to join our team in Aberdeen. Reporting to the Survey Manager, this role involves carrying out surveying activities for Global Design Innovation Ltd and potentially other companies within GDi's portfolio. The ideal candidate will have a passion for learning and development in this field.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Assist in conducting a variety of surveys following relevant procedures.
  2. Perform pre-mobilisation checks on survey and scanning equipment.
  3. Support tasks such as resolving survey queries, responding to technical and media requests for clients and GDi personnel, and handling data download requests.
  4. Under supervision, carry out laser scanning on onshore/offshore assets and process the data to prepare final deliverables.
  5. Perform QA/QC analysis and model 3D data into 2D and 3D CAD drawings and reports.
  6. Prepare and check drawings and 3D models.
  7. Operate survey software, monitor data quality, and ensure survey specifications are met.
  8. Report on job progress and identify scope changes.
  9. Develop awareness of survey techniques, error propagation, datums, and environmental impacts on survey data.
  10. Understand calibration requirements of survey systems and sensors.
  11. Understand client requirements and ensure scope and contract deliverables are clear.
  12. Foster positive working relationships with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers.
  13. Develop skills in survey software and geomatics tools such as Leica Cyclone, Faro Scene, LFM, and Recap.
  14. Work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team and be willing to travel within the UK and internationally, including offshore assignments, primarily in the North Sea.

Qualifications & Certification:

  • Work experience or equivalent; National 5 or above in English and Maths preferred.
  • Preferred: BSc in Surveying or a related field.
