Slater and Gordon’s trainee programme will allow you to focus on becoming an integral part of the business, and we will give you support and responsibility, to shape and develop yourself into becoming an excellent solicitor, capable of running your own caseload upon qualification with us.
We believe becoming an outstanding solicitor is about continuous development, so we will make sure you are challenged, pushed, mentored and rewarded in equal measure.
During your two-year training contract, you will complete four seats (six months each), in a range of practice areas. We encourage our trainees to experience a variety of departments to broaden their knowledge and experience. At least two of your seats will be within our award-winning and highly regarded personal injury and clinical negligence teams. Please note that not all practice areas will be available in each office, and seat availability will be subject to demand and business need.
Throughout your training contract you can look forward to working with lawyers with extensive experience including many who are leaders in their respective fields, who will make sure you get the best experience, by providing you with a diverse range of real legal work and being on hand to offer the support and guidance you will need. You will also have support from our Learning & Development and HR teams during your training journey.
Each year, we look for the very best candidates to join us as trainee solicitors and become part of the exciting future of our business. We need individuals who are highly motivated to learn and who already possess a positive and proactive ‘can-do’ attitude. We want candidates who can demonstrate an ability to organise themselves and others, and who are able to combine technical ability with a common-sense, empathetic and commercially aware approach to their work.
We are hoping to offer training contract opportunities in our Manchester, London, Liverpool and Cardiff offices, with the majority of roles within our Manchester and London offices. Please specify the location you are applying for when submitting your application.
Please also note that we may have a small number of vacancies for our 2026 trainee intake. If you are eligible (see below regarding SQE) and would like to be considered for both 2026 and 2027, you should specify this in your application.
The Solicitors Qualifying Exam (SQE) route to qualification:
Successful candidates not undertaking the LPC must have, as a minimum, successfully completed SQE1 before starting their training contract. SQE2 must then be undertaken in your own time within the first year of your training contract. We will continue to accept applications from anyone who is completing or has already completed the LPC.
At this stage, Slater + Gordon does not offer any funding for the SQE or LPC.
