Job summary

SourceCo Recruitment Limited in Redditch is seeking a hands-on Trainee Setter / Operator to learn a rare and highly specialised trade in copper and silver-bonded rivet production. This is a great opportunity to train on bespoke machinery with full guidance.

No previous experience is necessary as training will be provided over approximately 12–18 months, with progression toward independent operation of up to four machines and a structured career path.

Qualifications

• No prior experience required; full training will be provided.
• Apprenticeship in a relevant discipline is desirable.
• UK forklift licence and full UK driving licence are desirable (if held).

Responsibilities

• Learn to set up, operate and maintain specialised heading machines.
• Develop understanding of tooling, machine settings and production processes.
• Monitor machine performance and ensure products meet quality standards.
• Carry out product inspections and quality checks.
• Maintain tooling and basic toolmaking to keep equipment in good condition.
• Identify and resolve basic issues, escalating as needed.
• Work toward independently operating up to four machines.
• Follow health and safety procedures and keep a clean, organised workspace.
• Collaborate with mentors to develop technical knowledge and practical skills.

Trainee Setter / Operator

Location: Redditch

Hours: Monday-Thursday, 08:00-16:30 | Friday, 08:00-15:00

(15-minute AM break and 30-minute PM break each working day)

Salary: £27k per annum

The Role

SourceCo Recruitment are looking for a hands-on, mechanically minded individual to join an established manufacturing business in Redditch as a Trainee Setter / Operator.

This is a great opportunity to learn a rare and highly specialised trade, operating bespoke machinery used to manufacture copper and silver-bonded contact rivets. No previous experience is necessary, as full training will be provided over approximately 12-18 months.

Key Responsibilities

• Learn to set up, operate and maintain specialised heading machines.
• Develop an understanding of tooling, machine settings and production processes.
• Monitor machine performance and ensure products are manufactured to the required quality standards.
• Carry out product inspections and quality checks throughout production.
• Maintain tooling and develop basic toolmaking skills to keep equipment in good working condition.
• Identify and resolve basic mechanical or production issues, escalating where necessary.
• Work towards independently operating up to four machines.
• Follow all health and safety procedures and maintain a clean, organised working environment.
• Work closely with experienced colleagues and your mentor to develop technical knowledge and practical skills.
