Trainee Senior Wellbeing Practitioner (SWP)

We areseeking to recruit a qualified practitioner (EMHP/CWP) who is committed to theprinciples of CYP-PT. This role offers an opportunity for the post-holder to furtherprogress their career into a senior practitioner role, extending the clinicalskillset of CWPs and EMHPs by providing specialist training in a broader rangeof presentations. In addition to managing their own caseload, the candidatewill be expected to provide supervision to CWPs and/or EMHPs for low-intensityinterventions following training.

Thepost-holder will work with young people from diverse backgrounds and should becommitted to diversity and ensuring access to services for all.

Applicantswill need to be ready to start work by early January 2027, with trainingcommencing on the 29th. Posts cannot be offered to candidates unlessthey can guarantee this start date.

Main duties of the job

Main duties of the job

  • Delivering evidence-based interventions to children and young people in education settings as part of early identification and intervention for children and young people with emotional and mental health needs.
  • To provide advice, support and knowledge to children and their families in relation to appropriate resources for their emotional wellbeing needs.
  • To take responsibility for liaising with practice leads and other practitioners in the team to support effective clinical governance, risk and safety protocols and best practice principles to support improvement alongside young-person centred care.
  • To support development and delivery of psychoeducational workshops, webinars and groups for young people, parents/carers and school staff.
  • To develop a coordinated response to children and young peoples mental health needs by working across agencies.
  • Encourage co-production in furthering best practices.
  • Strive for quality assurance in data returns for both qualitative and quantitative service evaluations.
  • Provide supervision to CWPs and/or EMHPs (from the second year of the programme).

Practiseand supervision responsibilities

  • Deliver specialist evidencebased therapeutic interventions with a caseload of children and families whilstkeeping up to date with current training and practice.
  • Provide support and guidance toothers with the aim of improving skills, knowledge and the facilitation ofreflective practice.
  • Undertake assessments with youngpeople and parents which identify areas where the young person wishes to seechange.
  • Identify, monitor and managerisk to self and others in every contact with a client.
  • Manage own workload, withsupport from supervision.
  • Contribute to evaluation of allareas of service delivery and intervention outcomes.
  • To engage in best practiceprinciples for professional supervision.
  • Fully utilise the purpose andfunction of supervision to maximise personal and professional growth andlearning in becoming a Senior Wellbeing Practitioner, including both group andpeer supervision.
  • Strive to be agood role model for positive working relationships and modelling professionalbehaviours that align with the values and principles of the organisation andprofessional body.

Training& Education:

  • Ensureknowledge and skills are continuously developed and maintained at a high levelof competence.
  • Identifytraining needs through supervision and personal development plans.
  • Designand deliver training services/workshops and to take part in their evaluation.

Researchand development

  • To work with others to develop practice protocols and audittools, to collect the relevant statistical information to underpin serviceevaluation and record keeping.
  • To ensure all interventions are evidence based.
  • To be key in obtaining service user views and feedback onsupport provided to ensure the delivery of accessible provision.
  • To comply with relevant professional codes of conduct.
  • To contribute to establishing essential networks, knowledgebase of resources and maintain links with relevant community organisations.
  • To contribute to identifying service needs and gaps withregard to childrens mental health and wellbeing.
  • Develop skills in service evaluation and audit to ensure theoverall development of the service.
  • To maintain awareness of up-to-date research and developmentpertaining to advances in child and young peoples emotional wellbeing andmental health issues.
Person Specification
Experience
  • Over two years experience of clinical supervised practice of working with children and families, including work with children and young people with emotional and mental health needs which includes working with children and young people with a wide range of clinical and behavioural presentations.
  • Knowledge of the Educational, Health, Social and Voluntary Sector systems in England.
  • Knowledge of MHST national strategy and relevant national policies and guidance in relation to childrens services and knowledge and skills to safeguard and protect children and young peoples welfare in line with the Children Act 2004 requirements and Keeping Children Safe in Education.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and skills to deliver training packages on child and young peoples emotional wellbeing and mental health, including delivering psycho education children, young people and their families.
  • Demonstrate skills to assess risk using already established assessment tools and if necessary, develop protocols with families and other staff / practitioners to manage risk.
  • Ability to personally manage a sensitive caseload.
  • Ability to listen empathetically to children and young people and their families whilst showing respect, genuineness, empathy, personal integrity and communication skills.
  • Ability to work in partnership with children, families and multi-disciplinary professionals.
  • Commitment to using data and relevant measures to assess clinical outcomes.
  • Ability to study as a self-motivated learner who can formulate their own progress towards learning objectives and negotiate pathways to achievement with supervisory teams.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and skills in identifying systems for supporting emotional wellbeing and mental health needs in the community and facilitating access for young people and families.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work autonomously and cohesively as part of a team.
  • Good time management and organisational skills.
  • Ability to use feedback and adapt accordingly.
