Job summary

Avon Valley Nursery & Preschool in Keynsham is seeking a Trainee SENCo with Early Years experience to support children with SEND while preparing to become an effective SENCo.

You will work hands-on with children, collaborating with the SENCo, families and external professionals to assess needs and develop personalised plans, while pursuing professional development and career progression.

Qualifications

• Experience working in an Early Years setting.
• Holds a Level 3 Early Years Educator qualification or equivalent.
• Willingness to learn and develop towards SENCo role.

Full-time | 38 or 40 hours over 4 days
Competitive salary – dependent on experience and qualifications From £13.80 per hour

Are you an experienced Early Years practitioner who wants to take the next step in your career and make a real difference to children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)?

We are looking for a Trainee SENCo to join our wonderful team at Avon Valley Nursery & Preschool, based at the beautiful Avon Valley Wildlife Park.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who already has experience working in Early Years and holds an Early Years qualification, who is ready to develop their skills, take on new responsibilities and work towards becoming an effective and confident SENCo.

As our Trainee SENCo, you will have the best of both worlds – remaining hands-on with the children while developing your knowledge and experience in supporting children with additional needs.

You'll work closely with our experienced SENCo, room leaders, practitioners, families and external professionals to help ensure that every child receives the support they need to achieve, belong and thrive.

You will have the opportunity to:

About you

We are looking for someone who:

• Has experience working in an Early Years setting.
• Holds a relevant Early Years qualification, such as a Level 3 Early Years Educator qualification or equivalent.
• Has a genuine passion for supporting children with SEND and promoting inclusion.
• Is enthusiastic about learning and developing their professional knowledge.
• Is caring, patient, adaptable and approachable.
• Can work collaboratively with colleagues, families and other professionals.
• Is confident in observing children's development and identifying where additional support may be beneficial.
• Is organised and willing to take on new challenges.
• Wants to make a meaningful difference to the lives of children and their families.

Previous experience supporting children with SEND would be advantageous, but a willingness to learn and develop is equally important.
